All you Mumbaikars out there, are you ready for a family-friendly fun run on a Sunday morning? Here’s some good news for all our fitness freaks.

The third edition of Swami Vivekananda run is back again. The run is not just a race, but a social event. This event is organized to commemorate and celebrate Swami Vivekananda’s soul-stirring speech that made history at World Parliament of Religions in Chicago on September 11, 1893. He was the chief architect of propagating inter-religious harmony, faith across British ruled India in the 19th century. He rose as a key figure playing a pivotal role in reviving Hinduism and spreading its message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ across the world. This run is part of the celebrations of his 150th birth anniversary.

Who can forget those famous lines etched in folklore “Brother and Sisters of America…” in the World Parliament of Religions in 1893. His famous quotes include “The one who actually succeeds in making himself believe that he is having a good time is the man of splendid physical health”. For having a sound health, he always reiterated on practicing the daily exercise, yoga for people from all walks of life. He was himself a great sportsperson.

The running event is organized by Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP), Powai, Chandivali and will be held on September 13, 2015 at Heritage Park, Hiranandani Gardens, Powai, Mumbai from 7:00 am to 8:30 am.

Swami Vivekananda run aims at propagating the teachings and views of Swami Vivekananda Ji to everyone, especially to the youth of today. This is a charity event and all the proceeds will be directed to charities in the educational and health sector. The run will start off from Heritage Garden and end in the same place covering 3.3 km distance with places like Cliff Avenue, Orchard Avenue, Jalvayu Vihar, Pizza Hut, Crisil Vihar as milestones. There will be 27 referees positioned at different routes for co-ordinating a fair and enjoyable run. There are 3 water points where participants can have a breather during the course of the run.

The registration fee for this event is available at an unimaginable price of 300 INR for students and for others it’s just 400 INR. The last date for registration is 10 September, 2015.
