Blasterjaxx, one of the most celebrated and most successful EDM artistes in the world, haven’t won the laurels just like that. It was an arduous journey through the musical peregrination for Thom Jongkind (24) and Idir Makhlaf (22). They saw the crests and troughs alike. At one point, they had to re-enact the proverbial Phoenix to prove resurgent.
Blasterjaxx DJs would be taking the cities of Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore (Bengaluru) by musical storm, organised by Sunburn arena, for which MeraEvents is the ticketing technology partner.
It was in 2013 that the DJ duo of Blasterjaxx, Thom Jongkind (24) and Idir Makhlaf (22), joined the big league to rub shoulders with the top DJs of the world. Legends led by, Afrojack, Tiësto, Hardwell,Calvin Harris, als Avicii , Kaskade, Steve Angello, Laidback Luke, David GuettaSkrillex, , Sebastian Ingrosso, , Daft Punk and several other star DJs have Thom and Idir in their company.
Blasterjaxx had the best year in 2013 and the decibel levels of the DJ duo reached their melodious crescendo on October 19, 2013 with their inclusion in the DJ Mag Top 100 — the world’s best DJs. Where were the Blasterjaxx duo ranked? They catapulted to 71st rank.
Quite interestingly, the DJs Thom and Idir are not the alter egos of each other, nor are they identical musical twins. They are actually in complete contrast with a perfect harmony in their musical journey. One is seen as prominent, if not dominant, and scintillating, the other, however, prefers to stay quietly in the background. What brought about a sync between them is their undying passion for love of music.
When the industry tried to write off Blasterjaxx as a passe in 2012, they just did not give up. On the other hand, they proved it otherwise jolting the pessimist and kindling the hopes of optimists. In association with D-Rashid, Blasterjaxx duo produced two tracks of Reborn EP – Reborn and Where We Go.
The EP symbolised the renewed sound of Blasterjaxx and the release of EP has a lot of significance to the artistes. The resurgence was surely with a bang, for Laidback Luke himself evinced interest in signing the tracks at his home label Mixmash Records.
Career highpoint for Blasterjaxx in the formative years of their career was their coming up with an own production Loud and Proud together with Billy The Kit. Legendary Tiësto called on the DJ duo to sign the track at his record label, Musical Freedom.
Thom and Idir or humble. They don’t brag about the fact that Tiësto himself wanted them to remix his globally hit singles ‘Adagio For Strings’ and ‘Love Comes Again’. Now the three cities are gearing up to swing and sway to the tunes of the Blasterjaxx.
