“Sisters and Brothers of America,
It fills my heart with joy unspeakable to rise in response to the warm and cordial welcome which you have given us. I thank you in the name of the most ancient order of monks in the world; I thank you in the name of the mother of religions, and I thank you in the name of millions and millions of Hindu people of all classes and sects.”
Thus began the historic speech of Swami Vivekananda at the Parliament of the World’s Religions (1893) in Chicago, where he went on to win the heart of the audience in just the first five words itself.
The Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) Powai Chandivalli seeks to commemorate this occasion and is organizing the Swami Vivekananda Run Powai 2014 on September 14, 2014 at the Heritage Park, Pune.
The event which would be a gathering of the sports enthusiasts from across the city joining hands with the proud citizens of the country and would be open for participants of all age groups, which is why there is also a distinct category for students as well.
The run track would be a circular one, in the sense that the start and the end point of the race would be the Heritage Park. To ensure that the participants would not face any difficulty while completing the run, there would be referees posted at regular intervals along with the water booths, which would quench the thirst of the runners.
So, come and join hands with the proud citizens and fellow runners to mark this historic occasion. All the participants are requested to collect their bibs on 12 or 13 Sept between 5 to 7 pm at Heritage Park Hiranandani Garden Powai.
