A Gentle Note on How Autism is Not Being Differently Abled:

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), popularly known as Autism, is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder, which is characterized by a series of social impairments or socially unacceptable behaviour.  Characterized by difficulties in communication, restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped patterns of behavior, autistic disorder sometimes also exists along with the  milder form known as Asperger syndrome, and childhood disintegrative disorder.

Autism varies significantly and is present across various ethnic, socioeconomic and age groups and if reports are to be believed, one out of 88 children below the age of 8 have autism (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, March 30, 2012).

This makes it obvious that ASD is more common than  juvenile diabetes, pediatric AIDS and pediatric cancer combined. Intense and early therapy, has been proven effective in helping to prepare these kids towards having a better and brighter future, however, most kids go without proper treatment and guidance owing to financial restraints.
